විටත් සිදුවෙමින් පවතී. මේ නිසා සර්පයින් පමණක් නොව අනෙකුත් බොහොමයක් වනජීවීන්ගේද
වාසස්ථාන අහිමි වී යයි.
කෘෂි කාර්මික කටයුතු වලදී යොදා ගන්නා කෘෂි රසායනික ද්‍රව්‍යයන්ද සර්පයින්ට තර්ජනයක්
ඇති කරනු ලබයි. වගාවන් සදහා යොදා ගන්නා කෘමිනාශක මෙන්ම වල්නාශකද සර්ප ගහණය අඩු
කිරීමට හේතු වෙයි. නයිට්‍රිජන් අඩංගු පොහොර වර්ග වල අධි භාවිතයද මොවුනට අහිතකර ලෙස
බලපානු ලබයි. මෙම රසායනික ද්‍රව්‍යය තවත් ආකාරයකින් සර්පයින්ගේ ආහාර වන කෘමීන්
ගෙම්බන් මීයන් වැනි සතුනගේ ගහණය අඩු කිරිමටද හේතු වේ.
ගෝලීය උෂ්ණත්වය ඉහල යෑම, වාර්ශික වර්ෂාපතනය
අඩුවීම වැනි දේශගුණ වෙනස්වීමද ඇතැම් විශේෂ කෙරෙහි අහිතකර ලෙස බලපෑම් ඇති කරනු
ලබයි. සමහර සර්ප විශේෂ වලට ජීවත් විම සදහා අඩු උෂ්ණත්ව අවශ්‍ය වේ. උදාහරණයක් ලෙස
මැඩිල්ලන් (Aspidura spp) , නිහලුවා(Balanophis ceylonensis), දාර රදනකයා
(Cercaspis carinatus ), කුරන් කරවලා(Haplocercus ceylonensis), වැනි විශේෂ
වලට ජීවත් විම සදහා 25°C වලට වඩා අඩු උෂ්ණත්ව මෙන්ම තෙතමණයෙන් යුක්ත
කොළරොඩු සහිත පරිසරයක් අවශ්‍ය වේ. මෙම තත්ව නොමැති වුවහොත් මොවුන් මිය යෑමට
පුලුවන. (de. Silva 1980,1987).
මුහුදු සර්පයින්ට එල්ලවි ඇති ප්‍රබලතම
තර්ජනයවන්නේ ධීවරයින් විසින් මරා දැමීමයි. මීට අමතරව තෙල් වැනි ද්‍රව්‍යය නිසා
මුහුදු ජලයේ සිදුවන දූෂණයද මුහුදු
සර්පයින්ට අහිතකර ලෙස බලපෑම් ඇති කරයි.
ශ්‍රි ලංකාව යනු සර්පයින්ගේ විවිධත්වය අධික
රටකි. එමෙන්ම මෙරටට ආවේණික වූ විශේෂ බොහොමයක් හමුවේ. නමුත් දියුණු යැයි කියා ගන්නා
මිනිසුන් විසින්ම සිදු කරන ක්‍රියා හේතුවෙන්
සර්ප ගහණය සීඝ්‍රයෙන් අඩු වෙමින් පවතී. මේ නිසා බොහොමයක් විශේෂ වද වීමේ

ඇතුලත්ව ඇත.
